"The Dark Tower" series in my favorite set of books. It is about the last gunslinger in a different world from ours that is in search of the Dark Tower. In the first book(called The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger) the gunslinger, Roland, is in search of the Man in Black (who we learn later is named Walter). (I won't reveal any of the books' ending in hopes that you will go out and read them.) In the second book(called The Dark Tower: The Drawing of the Three) is about Roland and how he passes through magical doors on a strange beach into our world in search of the next future gunslingers. The third book(called The Dark Tower: The Wastelands) tells the story of Roland and his Ka-tet. In the fourth book(which just recently came out, called The Dark Tower: Wizard and Glass) Roland recalls his strange and mysterious past.
